Three things about me

I was born in Miami. My grandmother is Native American. My great grandfather fled Spain to grow tobacco in Cuba in the 1800s. I grew up in Venezuela but I’ve lived all over the world. I feel like I belong to a lot of different places and cultures. I’m able to adapt and adopt things as my own. I consider this my greatest asset.

I’m a weird writer. I started writing when I was seven-ish and I started taking photographs around the same time. I went to art school and film school to become a photographer and a DP. I have a lot of passion for both worlds so you can say I probably care too much about DPs and Color Correction and beautiful visual references.

I’m a writer in a language that’s not my native tongue. Sometimes I make up words and pronounce them in funky ways. I used to feel self-conscious about this and then I re-watched Game of Thrones EP 1 S1, where Tyrion Lannister tells John Snow “Let me give you some advice, bastard. Never forget what you are, the rest of the world will not. Wear it like armour and it can never be used to hurt you” and it hit me; I will always be different. My accent will be part of my storytelling and that’s not bad. Different is good. it’s just who I am.
